About This Studio
The Watercolor Art Society – Houston (WAS-H) has been a cornerstone of the Houston art scene since 1975. This non-profit organization, boasting over 600 members, is dedicated to promoting watermedia art through diverse programs and opportunities. WAS-H provides year-round opportunities for artists of every level, from novice to expert, and welcomes art lovers to enjoy monthly exhibits in its Museum District gallery.
WAS-H offers a wide range of classes and workshops, including monthly member workshops focusing on specific techniques. The society also hosts weekly open studio sessions for members, model labs, and community outreach programs like the Senior Class, which provides free art gatherings for seniors 55+. Major workshops taught by nationally renowned artists are offered in conjunction with the International Watermedia Exhibition and the Annual Members Exhibit.
What sets WAS-H apart is its strong sense of community and dedication to fostering artistic growth. The building itself was designed specifically for the society by its architect members. WAS-H provides a welcoming space for artists to learn, connect, and showcase their work. Whether you're a seasoned painter or just starting out, WAS-H offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of watermedia art. Visit their gallery or sign up for a class to experience the vibrant artistic community firsthand.
