Earthborn Pottery was born from a love of art and a passion for creating. Founder Tena Payne discovered her love for clay in the 1970s and refined her craft over the years. What started as a hobby evolved into a thriving business when chef Chris Hastings commissioned her to create unique dinnerware for his restaurant. Now, Earthborn Pottery provides a livelihood for Tena, her husband, and children. The studio's pieces are inspired by nature, reflecting the colors of the Alabama landscape.

Earthborn Pottery offers a variety of classes, including 6-week thrown pottery courses. Beginner classes teach the basics of centering, pulling the wall, and trimming. Advanced classes focus on joining thrown items, managing larger pieces, and design elements. Classes include instruction, clay, glazing, and firing. Master Potter Larry Allen shares his skills with students.
