About This Studio
BOX 13 ArtSpace is an artist-run nonprofit committed to fostering experimental contemporary art in Houston. Founded in 2008 by a collective of Houston artists, including Elaine Bradford and others, BOX 13 provides affordable studio spaces for both emerging and established artists, encouraging dialogue and exploration of current trends within the art community. Located in a former sewing machine factory, the space offers a unique and inspiring environment for creative exploration.
BOX 13 ArtSpace offers a variety of opportunities for artists to exhibit their work, with two interior galleries dedicated to scheduled exhibitions. They also feature a window gallery for experimental installations and a 100ft outdoor mural wall. In addition to exhibition opportunities, BOX 13 hosts figure drawing sessions and open studio events, providing avenues for artists to engage with the community.
Visiting BOX 13 ArtSpace provides an authentic glimpse into Houston's vibrant art scene, distinct from any franchise experience. The studio fosters a strong sense of community, offering a space where artists can freely explore their visions and connect with fellow creatives. Explore the exhibitions, attend a figure drawing session, or simply immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of this artist-run haven.
