About This Studio
The Texas Society of Sculptors (TSOS), based in Austin, was chartered in 1971 as a non-profit organization. TSOS aims to educate the public about sculpture, promote sculptors' work, and connect sculptors. Membership is open to sculptors and sculpture enthusiasts alike, offering a platform for networking and professional development. TSOS sponsors various events throughout the year and publishes a newsletter to keep members informed of activities and opportunities. Gregory Beck is listed as a Director at Large for North Texas.
TSOS members create both abstract and realistic sculptures, exploring a wide range of materials. These include bronze, metals, stone, terra-cotta, ceramics, mosaics, cement, wood, paper, found objects, and mixed media. New and emerging artists can connect with experienced sculptors, who often teach classes and provide mentorship. TSOS also welcomes bronze casting foundries, students, art lovers, and arts organizations into its community.
Board meetings are open to all TSOS members and often take place at locations of sculptural interest. These meetings are followed by lunch at a local restaurant, providing a social and collaborative environment. The Texas Society of Sculptors offers a unique opportunity to engage with the art of sculpture beyond a typical studio setting, fostering a community of artists and enthusiasts.
